10 Dropshipping Tips To Increase Revenue
Everyone who owns a dropshipping business want to make more money with their business, and I have created a top 10 list of "tips" every Internet business owner that works with a dropshipper can (and should) do to increase revenue. These tips will also work from a dropship business owner that is just begining too. These steps are simple, but if you make sure to implement every single one of them with your dropshipping strategy you will see an overall improvement.
1. Offer something FREE - As an example if you are selling memory foam mattresses such as Rocky Mountain Mattress (dot) com, you could offer free pillows with every mattress purchase. Think of items to give away that go well with your main products that will not cost you a lot of money, but will add great value to the purchase. Most people buy new pillows when they purchase a mattress, so this is a perfect fit in this example.
2. Think of Joint Ventures - You need to start thinking of all of the possibilities that are out there for other people to promote your products for you. If you can think of another business who would mutually benefit from promoting your product, and you could throw them a kickback for any referrals its always a no brainer for both sides! As and example (since we were already talking about mattresses), a great connection would be with a chiropractic, because they are always being asked by their customers what can be done to improve back health and sleep.
3. Coupon Codes - You could call this an "affiliate" program if you really wanted to. Here's the deal with coupon codes - If you could get as many people as possible selling your products while making it worth it for them, you will make so many more sells. For example, you could set up a relationship with a business owner to offer their customers 5% off, and give the business owner 5% as well for making the referral. You may be offering the mattress at a 10% discount then normally, but think about the fact that would not be making the sale in the first place without someone referring! The coupon codes are a great way to track whose sending what, so you know who you need to give money to at the end of the month.
4. Offer a Newsletter - If you have a topic that is worth signing up for a newsletter where you can provide useful information then having people sign up for a newsletter is probably one of the fastest ways to grow your email database, and increase revenue. You will increase sells because with every newsletter sent out you can "spotlight a product" and offer some sort discount if people "act today" or, "only on sell for the next week at this price".
5. Phone Number - If you have your phone number visible no matter what page people are on they will feel more comfortable knowing they can contact you any time they need. People are already cautious giving credit card information online, but if you can do everything in your power to look more legitimate then you will increase sells.
6. Site Security - Show a SSL badge, BBB logo or other form of security on the site. Another one that a lot of people have on their site is the "hacker safe" badge. These will help increase the credibility of your site, and make it easier for people to give you money compared to the competitor that has not taken so many precautions. People just want to feel safe online with all of the garbage going on lately with identity theft, and this is just one more added bonus you can offer to increase your revenue.
7. FREE SHIPPING - When people are shopping around online, they are looking at all of their options and in many cases all of the prices are super close, but they will pick the website that is offering "free shipping" more times then not. When they are looking through your prices, the customer knows that they are not going to be hit with a huge shipping fee, and they have a better sense of what the product is going to cost them. Now you can make up the cost of shipping in your product when you list it on your site, just make sure you give the appearance of "free".
8. Seasonal Promotions - Even if you are offering promotions year round make sure you break them up for the different holidays, or seasons that are upon us. For example, since mothers day is only a few days away (as of the day of this post) a website would be smart to be offering a "Mothers Day Special". People scan through websites so quick, and if right away on your site they can see something promoting "Mothers Day" (or whatever holiday or season at the time) they will stay a little longer and check out what you have to offer.
9. Information - Provide more useful (even more then you think needed) product information then the competition. If they are offering a FAQ page with 10 questions, then you provide a list of 20. If they are providing 3 images per product, then you provide 6. You need to do everything you can to keep above the competition, and providing great information will help you with customers and improving search engine rankings. More customers and better search engine rankings mean more potential sales which means - INCREASED REVENUE!
10. Buying Solution Sites - I have done so many posts on other sources that you can sell your products on that its not funny. If you wonder why I bring them up all the time, then here is your answer - THEY WORK, and will increase your revenue. if you are selling your products on eBay, Amazon, Shopping.com, Shopzilla, Overstock, Google Base, and other main buying solution networks you will increase your sites revenue. I work with a lady who sells a fitness DVD, and she sells maybe 10 -15 a week on her site, but sells 200 a week on Amazon. If I need to spell it out any clearer, then I don't think I can help!
There really are so many other things you can be doing to increase revenue on your dropshipping site, but I think this is a good start. Even if the "10 dropshipping tips to increase revenue" above is all you are doing to try and improve, you will have a more successful website and it will put you leaps above the competition.
